Oct. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC), the world’s largest provider of healthcare products and services to office-based dental, animal health, and medical practitioners, recently recognized the 25thanniversary of its distribution centers in Indianapolis. Operating out of two Indianapolis distribution facilities totaling 673,000 square feet, Henry Schein today employs more than 400 Team Schein Members (TSMs) at the facilities, who have contributed to nearly three decades of rapid, accurate, and complete order fulfillment.
To commemorate this anniversary, Stanley M. Bergman, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, visited and thanked the entire Indianapolis team for delivering on the company’s commitments and for providing an exceptional customer experience. He also highlighted important milestones that have enabled the company to better serve customers, improve operating efficiency, and grow the average Indianapolis inventory level from $15 million since its opening to $146 million in 2017.
“With our dedicated TSMs representing 36 countries of origin, the Indianapolis distribution facilities are a model for diversity and inclusion,” said Mr. Bergman. “It’s an honor to recognize 21 TSMs who have been with us since the beginning. Together, with our loyal and committed TSMs, the best years for our Indianapolis facilities and our entire company are yet to come.”
The Indianapolis Distribution Centers, one of five core distributions centers in the U.S., has grown from 41,400 Stock Keeping Units to more than 80,000 in 2017, with the average number of orders rising from 2,000 shipped per day to more than 11,000 per day in 2017. Today, an average of more than 25,000 cartons are shipped from the center every day.
