Next month, from Aug. 4-20, the Dairy Association’s attention turns to the Indiana State
Fair and its iconic Dairy Bar. All the traditional favorites will be on the menu – including
the signature milk shakes and scrumptious grilled cheese sandwiches – along with two
new items: the “Mousetrap” grilled cheese, which was the winner of their Best Grilled
Cheese contest in 2016, and the root beer float milk shake.
The American Dairy Association Indiana is also bringing back “The Cheese Lady,”
Sarah Kaufmann, to the State Fair. Kaufmann will carve over 1400 pounds of Indiana
cheese into a dairy cow masterpiece in a salute to “The Wonderful World of Food”
during the first several days of the event.
Fairgoers will be able to watch her carve at the Purdue Extension Agriculture &
Horticulture Building. The sculpture’s official unveiling will take place at noon on Friday
August 11 and it will be on display in the Ag/Hort Building for the remainder of the fair.
